Random Business Cards

Is it wrong to think up crazy crap and put it on a business card? I think not. The good folks at VistaPrint will let you put just about anything on a card and then send a bunch of them to you for the price of postage.

Those people make me weak in the knees.

Nut Cam

Nut CamJust watch the "Battle of the Bulge" video.
I'm still laughing!

Ed Helms is one funny guy.
I think (and have for a long time) that
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
is the funniest show on TV.

Thank you Comedy Central.

An Argument is a group of statements, one of which (the conclusion) is claimed to follow from the premise(s).

Arguments may be placed in one of two categories: those in which the conclusion really does follow from the premise(s) (good argument), and those in which the conclusion does not, even though it is claimed to (bad argument).

An inference is the reasoning process used to produce an argument.

A proposition is the meaning of information content of a statement.

Just a little elementary logic in case we need to argue.

Trent is back

I recently bought the new Nine Inch Nails album "WITH TEETH." I have had Trent in my head for a while and now he is back in there solidifying synapses.

I showed you may spider pic, right?

I think she is beautiful.

Limp Bizkit - The Unquestionable Truth (Part I)

I recently aquired

Liz Phair - Exile in Guyville

Exile in Guyville
I just bought Liz Phair's first album.

It seems to be patterned after the Stone's "Exile on Main Street" and it rocks!

Right on.

EV Switch and Housing from my local dealer - NOT

I just tried (for grins) to order a EV Switch and Housing for my 2004 Prius. The reason that was given for not ordering it is that Toyota Japan only allows US dealers to order US parts.

Okay, I'll believe just about anthing a guy at a Toyota parts department tells me.

Has anyone else tried ordering the EV switch from their dealer?

Bad Form?

Is it bad form to use the category "Entertainment:Bananas & Blow" instead of using "Misc" in Quicken?

It makes me giddy for some reason.

Lonesome Johnny Blues

"Well, lucky number seven passed me by
Lucky number seven called my name and passed on by
Well he came back don't you know
with his brother six in tow
And that is how number thirteen wound up by my side.
And that is how I got these Lonesome Johnny Blues
How I got these Lonesome Johnny Blues
Got the Lonesome Johnny Blues
and there's nothing I can do
'Cept sing these sad old weary Lonesome Johnny Blues
Here we go
Grim Reaper he pulled up into my drive
Grim Reaper pulled his little old Chevrolet right up onto the goddamn drive
Johnny, I haven't come for you
but I want someone who's dear to you
and the price you pay is to remain alive
And I'll stay here with these Lonesome Johnny Blues
Stay here with these Lonesome Johnny Blues
With the Lonesome Johnny Blues
and there's nothing I can do
'Cept sing these sad old weary Lonesome Johnny Blues
Woah, no more trouble send him down the road, won't you please.
No more trouble won't you beat him up, won't you send him down the road
Trouble dumped out the trash
Ransacked the place for cash
and he wound up taking much more than I own
And he left me with these Lonesome Johnny Blues
Left me with these Lonesome Johnny Blues
With the Lonesome Johnny Blues
and there's nothing I can do
'Cept sing these sad old weary Lonesome Johnny Blues
Johnny Blues
the sad old weary Lonesome Johnny Blues
Johnny Blues
the sad old weary Lonesome Johnny Blues "

Do you think she could win? Can the democrats get back into the white house? Run Hillary Run! 'Five years on, Bill Clinton has become perhaps the most high-profile former president in history, and certainly the most loved and admired American politician in the world. He has relished his role as UN representative for tsunami relief and worked tirelessly to promote the Clinton Foundation's AIDS project, which is delivering cheap anti-retroviral drugs to more than 100,000 people in the developing world, with the goal of reaching 2 million people by 2008.' Visual Studio Home: Visual Studio 2005 Team System Modeling Strategy and FAQ

(Incomplete) Thoughts about the MSDN article: Visual Studio Home: Visual Studio 2005 Team System Modeling Strategy and FAQ

What About UML?
I agree that UML is actually used on whiteboards, notebooks, scraps of paper and cocktail napkins. It is rarely a software artifact. When UML is used as documentation (which is an excellent use for it) it is too often generated from the code and just stuck in a document making it nearly unusable. In my view UML is meant to get the idea across not to be the code.

What About MDA?
A quote from the article: "MDA is a brand licensed to the OMG that is based on using UML for model-driven development. It places a strong emphasis on platform independent models and generative techniques. " Since it is based on UML it is, in my humble opinion, not useful as a full fledged code artifact.

Martin Folwer's take on MDA from February 2004.

What Are Software Factories?
mmm.... "home banking applications" I can't wait. Dangit, I thought it was baking applications.

"Building a factory is a lot like building a framework. It involves harvesting and implementing patterns and other best practices to make them easy for developers to apply. Using a factory is more efficient than building systems by hand from scratch because instead of scanning through catalogs and repositories, hoping to find reusable components, developers using a factory have reusable components appropriate for each aspect of the system under development immediately available in the context of the system architecture and development process."

Wow! I've seen some bad frameworks in the past. And now we all get to make our own crappy factory? Hmmm...... I have to go work on this first hand. (back soon)

more to come... (maybe)

By the way, I prefer not to use the draft feature for a piece like this because there could be some comments along the way that I might otherwise miss and might make the piece better on the whole.

My Prius (I love my 2004 Prius)

tiny prius Hey, does anyone know how explain to a non-handy person how to remove and then safely replace the front bumper cover of a 2004 Prius? I hit an empty five gallon bucket on the highway almost dead center in the middle of that bumper cover.

The last car that I removed something from the front. Well... let's just say that it never looked the same again.

Oh, and did I mention that I love my prius?

I'm a Google Whore

Okay, okay, I admit it. I'm putting these google ads all over the place because I'm a greedy bastard. Well, that is not entirely true, but I like the way it sounds. I have always thought that the content sensitive ads from google were kind of useful. To me anyway they are useful.

I use gmail a lot and it is nice to be able to instantly learn what the heck my friend just bought when it is a single click away.

So, good, bad, greedy, whatever.... I'm putting google ads all over this silly blog of mine. If you find them useful please let me know. If you don't find them useful, well.... Change your damn mind. (no, really let me know if they piss you off)

I wonder what content the word "Whore" in my title might bring up. I guess we'll know soon enough.

Oh, on a different subject. Thanks to the two people that have actually visited this site.

Asbestos Abatement

I see this quote (or something similar at many sites): "Asbestos is abated only when required for renovation, remodeling or maintenance."

Shouldn't asbestos be properly removed from any building once it is discovered? I know it is expensive, but so is dying from lung cancer (usually malignant mesothelioma).

I don't know what to think, normally I'm against class action law suits, mainly because something usually comes out of my pocket in the end.

What do you think?

Bush, Karzai sign strategic partnership

Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at 07:24 JST
WASHINGTON — U.S. President George W Bush and Afghan President Hamid Karzai signed a strategic partnership accord Monday to strengthen political, security and economic ties.

In a joint press conference after their talks at the White House, the two leaders emphasized the need for greater cooperation in fighting poppy cultivation and in capturing terrorists but Bush was quick to dismiss any idea of granting greater authority over U.S. troops in Afghanistan to the Afghan government. My brother Steve made these for my girls. Very cool!

These two beautiful little rocking chairs where hand crafted to fit the dimensions of my sweet girls. With a little room to grow, of course.

Great job Steve. Also, If you need a top notch network guy, he does that too.
